Scholarships
Subaru, in partnership with GSA, has generously funded a new scholarship program to benefit undergraduate minorities considering a degree in the geosciences. The Subaru Minority Student Scholarship Program provides $1500 to one student at an accredited university or college in each of the six North-American GSA Regional Sections and in a World Bank designated low-income country from the International Section as nominated by a GSA Campus Representative. The student also receives a free registration to the GSA Annual Meeting that year and complimentary membership to GSA for one year. The purpose of the award is to encourage minority students to continue studies in the geosciences as a possible degree choice.
The recipients of the 2011 Subaru Minority Student Scholarship are:
| Section | Recipient |
|---|---|
| Northeastern | Sabrina M. Tucker, Kent State University |
| Southeastern | Natalie E. Sievers, University of Maryland |
| North-Central | Jena Long, Miami University-Ohio |
| South-Central** | Christine Chesley, University of Miami |
| Rocky Mountain | Ethan J. Rice, Colorado State University |

Women in Science Fund
Subaru funds the Subaru Outstanding Woman in Science Award, a prestigious award highlighted at the GSA Annual Meeting each year.
Education and Outreach Programs
Like geocaching — an adventure game for Global Positioning System (GPS) users to cache and find locations with actual hidden items — an EarthCache™ adventure is treasure-hunting for the caches that Earth has stored. EarthCache sites do not use containers; their treasure is the lessons people learn about our planet when they visit the site.
Subaru also sponsors the Women in Geoscience Mentoring Event at the GSA Annual Meeting, which addresses issues faced by women in geology.
GSA Annual Meetings
Subaru is traditionally a major sponsor for the GSA Annual Meeting.
In 2010, Subaru sponsored a field trip at the Annual Meeting in Denver. Click for more info

Corporate Vehicles
Two vehicles are provided to GSA for company use. These vehicles are emblazoned with images and logos that project the Society mission at the same time offering great visibility for Subaru. This year, we have two Outbacks that are being used for GSA business and also offered to GSA employees for carpooling.
